My crown cap cupboard

My babe :-)

I build this cupboard in winter 2007. For lager images click on the thumbs.

The picure frame

How it all begun! Looks nice but hardly space. Only ~550 caps find place on the frame.

The cupboard

Tecnical details:

Hight: 1,4m
Width: ca. 1m
Depth: 55 cm
Space for: 26880 crown caps

Detail view

The distance between each sinlge shelf is 22mm. You can see that there is enough space between the cpas and the shelfs.

The labels

Each shelf has a small grip hat which shows the shelf number and the cps range.

To extract

The shelfs can be extract completly.

The beast

The shelfs are of poplar wood and 6mm thick. 4mm are to thin and 8mm are to heavy and to expansive. 6mm are great agreement.

The Nailbed

The nailbed is the pattern for the beasts. The nails has a range of 3,2 cm. Altogether

The functionality

The nailbed and the shelf in action. By pressing the shelf on the nailbed it result marks on the shelf. The marks are for the screws.

The result!

224 caps fit on the shelf.

The fundament!

It is very important for me, that i can still sort the caps. So I need a solution where I can easy remove the caps from the "place" where they are sitting on.

I use 3mm x 12mm screws and on the top of the screws i put a piece of magnetic tape. Thats very cool and easy solution!

Macro view

You can see that there is enough space between the cap and the ground.

My selfmade "crowncap-picture-mashine"

I prefer to photograph insted of scanning the caps. To get each picture equal I need a model. And this is the reult :-)

  • always equal distance
  • alwasy equal position of the cap

  • Say cheese

So it looks in action. The camera has a good functionality by the high piece of wood. The results of the pcitures are here on this website.
